Recycling

Recycling is Easy with EDCO!

EDCO offers recycling programs that allow your employees and/or tenants to collect a variety of recyclable materials. Whatever level of recycling service your business requires, your Service Representatives will help implement the most cost-effective waste collection and recycling program to meet your specific needs. Commercial recycling is mandatory under California law (SB 1383). Businesses are required to subscribe to recycling collection service and properly separate recyclable materials from trash.

Our monthly charge includes service of the bins at your desired frequency (once a week minimum), processing site fees, and periodic reconditioning of the containers. To ensure program success, your Service Representative can provide bilingual educational materials to support your program.

Please DO NOT use any plastic bags to collect your recyclables, material must be placed loosely inside your blue recycling containers. Recyclables may be placed in paper bags, which are recyclable.

EDCO’s Recycling Guidelines

Glass Bottles & Jar: Recycle all food and beverage containers—clear and colored glass. No need to remove labels.

Cans: Recycle aluminum and steel cans—including clean & dry paint cans and empty aerosol cans. Also, recycle aluminum foil.

All food and beverage containers should be EMPTY: no/minimal food residue and no liquids remaining.

Cardboard: Flatten or cut boxes to a size that fits comfortably inside the recycling container.

Newspapers: Recycle your newspaper and everything that is delivered with it—including inserts, coupons, etc.

Mixed Paper: Recycle Office paper (all colors), mail, magazines, catalogs, newspapers, phone books, notebooks, and shredded paper (place shredded paper in a paper bag to contain it).

You can also recycle paper packaging such as cereal boxes, frozen food boxes, egg cartons, paper grocery bags, gift boxes, shoe boxes, gift wrap, calendars, and paper towel or gift wrap tubes.

Good to know: Staples, paper clips, and small metal fasteners on envelopes are OK. Please remove large metal items such as binder clips or 3-ring binders.

Large Items

  • Recyclable items too large to fit in the blue cart can be dropped off at no cost at any of our Buyback Centers. Click here to find a location near you.

Helpful Tips

  • Avoid overfilling containers. Material must be loaded even with the top of the container so the lids close completely.
  • Please ensure that vehicles and equipment are not blocking access to your containers on your scheduled service day. Unobstructed access to containers is absolutely necessary.
  • Please DO NOT use any plastic bags to collect your recyclables, material must be placed loosely inside your blue recycling containers. Paper bags are acceptable.
